Mildura to Kadina

We left Mildura Monday morning and headed for South Australia, we were not sure where we wanted to go other than we wanted to have a look at the City of Adelaide, so that was the direction we took.

As we cross the border we had to drive through the fruit fly inspection station. We were aware that we could not take fruit across the boarder but to our surprise we also discovered we could not take any fruit, vegetables or grape vines. So we had to give up out spuds and onions.
Border Vic - SA
After passing through the inspection station we enter SA and through the Dunlop tyre welcoming us to SA.

Our first stop was about 100ks or so into SA, as we drove up in to the hills we stopped to take photos of the flat country behind. From there we head into Glossip and find a place to park for the night. The next morning we travelled to Elizabeth, the first major centre forming part of the Greater Adelaide City. A quick stop at the shopping plaza and then to a parking lot near the park to set up for the night. Then into the city of Adelaide where we toured the city streets checking out the old buildings, trams, and parks.

Our opinion of Adelaide is that it is not unlike any other City, other than smaller than Sydney or Melbourne, it is quite clean and picturous but we decided to move on to the more remote areas of the state. Our next stop was at a little town called Dublin, where we bought fresh Veg and Fruit, it was a great little fruit and veg shop in a town which only had this shop, a butcher and a petrol station. After lunch we headed north west into Kadina when we decided to find a stop for the night. After finding a parking place we unloaded the car to check out the town.

Jake on train
We stop at the local park for a play on the swings, Jake drives the old steam train
Boys get Emu eggs
We stopped at a little hobby farm which had emus, roos, wallabies, peacocks, ponies and deer
The owner happen to drive past and pulled up to offer the boys an emu egg each.
Old Ute - Kadina
Before heading back to the bus for some dinner we stopped to have a look at this old ute, Jayson reckoned this would be a good first car for him self if we spent a bit of money and time restoring it.

Well, that’s about it from us for now, we are heading toward the coast tomorrow after we check out the information centre and museum where we are parked tonight.

Be sure to check out our other photos from this leg of our trip in the album, Photos / Australia – Our Lap / Mildura to Kadina
