Katherine to Barkly Homestead

Moving on from Katherine we stopped out of town for the night before driving in to Elsey National Park at Mataranka to see the hot springs. The national park is like swamp area created from natural springs, the water from the springs is 34 Deg C. Swimming in the water is allowed in a designated section, however we didn’t go for a swim as the water hole was deep and would have been unsafe for Jake.

Our next stop was Daly Waters, this is a place worth a visit. The town consists of a few buildings with the famous Daly Waters Pub being the main attraction. Daly Waters is like a comic, funny signs and memorabilia everywhere.

Our stop overs have been in road side camp areas, they are quite good down the centre of Australia and there are always plenty of others sharing the sites. Unfortunatly there is no TV, Phone or Internet so we have been in bed early and up with or before the sun. Here are some photos we took of the sunrise in the red centre.

We arrived in Barkly Homestead this morning, we have internet here so we decided to check our emails and update the website while having lunch. We will then move on to another camp site. There have been a lot of travellers stopping at Barkly Homestead while we have been here, not many buying fuel though, particularly larger vehicle, at $2.12/L its obvious why.
