We are a little further along the road, after a stop in Mount Isa to fill up the diesel and water tanks we headed out to the next camp spot. We made the 1300km run from Kathrine to Mount Isa on a tank of fuel, which was great, these larger towns are almost 50c a litre cheaper than the remote places in between. Its quite a big saving when filling up a big rig.

The next day we stopped in at Cloncurry to stock up on groceries, then drove on to McKinlay and stopped at the famous pub “Walkabout Creek Hotel” from the movie Crocodile Dundee. We then moved on to another road side rest area for the night.

This morning we drove into Winton, gave our mums a call to wish them a Happy Mothers Day, we pulled into the North Gregory Hotel caravan park, its a free camp area for vans and motor homes in an area behind the pub. We went for a walk and checked out the town, Winton is known as the Waltzing Matilda town but is also on the Dinosaur trail. Winton is very tourist orientated and offers a lot of info on Dinosaur fossils found in the area. We were going to stay at the Pub camping area for the night, but by lunch time the area was packed, there wasn’t much room for the kids to get out and play and it was quite dusty, so we decided to head out the road to a rest area.

We have decided to take the road to Rockhampton, via Longreach. From there we will most likely head down the coast road for a while.

We don’t have any new photos this time, we’ve been a bit slack.
